The main theme of this post will not follow with the topic as all I am going to share is the experience I had with Delhi Public Library situated near Sarogini Nagar Market, Delhi and how actually I owe a phase of my life to this almost free library.
I was in my 8th standard....I don’t remember when and who introduced me with that unforgettable monument but on the first day I issued some books and after finishing them rushed to library to issue new books. The women on book issue counter said to her colleague.
In bachho ko bilkul sabra nahi hai....aaj hi book li hai aur aaj hi return....inhe thodi akal lagani chahiye...jaoo yaha se aaj nahi hoga....
At that time I was thinking why she said it to her colleague and not to me....I was feeling bad bad very bad.......but now I know-typical Indian lugaii....he he
But at that time I haven’t learned to back off after a bad experience...so I continued issuing books...and entered a phase in which I became a bookaholic.
First I tried hindi books....godan, gaban and most of the stories of Mansarover all of them by Premchand. Apart from this I have read many other novels by Indian writer like Charitra Heen, Hum Panch and many hindi translated books of foreign authors.
Then my brother told me to read English as very thing we gonna read in future will be in English. So I came across some classical masterpiece and their authors like Jules verne, H G Wells, Mark Twain, Walter Scott, Stephen Crane and the list goes on....
How can someone forget Tintin....yes I read almost all comics of Tintin, even today I bet I can continuously read comics of tintin for hours....no days.
If I come to the specific book I like then I will say I like the book ek dar Panch Nidar about a haunted Bangalow in which five kids spend 2 days after getting fed up dirking milk every day ,The Red Badge of Courage, Adventure of Tom Sowyer and as usual the list goes on.
My daily routine was excellent at that time....after returning from school I used to visit that library daily and few hours spend reading daily.
I used to buy fun-flips (:-) so that I can have something to chew while reading and not only that I had a variety of things to carry. You will ask why not the librarian said anything to me about eating things in library and guess what I discovered the bribery thing at that very age....I used to bribe librarian with what I used to carry there (:-).

Anyways gone are those days when I used to be a kid (I am still retaining some of the qualities and innocence only a small kid could have but those are unacceptable) and the library thing was gone from my life after 10th when I started preparing for JEE but most of the things I have are somehow effected by those library days only.
One thing I want to convey is that I feel very relaxed and homely when I remember those days. Happy days in true sense......
